Before You Choose
Start With the Kind of Growth You Need Right Now
Choosing a Bible course does not have to begin with deciding how much education you want to complete. A more helpful question may be: What would help me grow and serve more faithfully in this present season?
Some believers need practical ministry foundations. Others want to understand Scripture and theology more deeply. Some are carrying leadership responsibility, while others sense a particular calling to encourage and strengthen people and churches.
Online Bible Instruction offers four certificate pathways that reflect these different goals.
Instead of asking, “Which certificate sounds most impressive?” ask, “What kind of learning would help me become more faithful with what God has entrusted to me?”
Four Certificate Pathways
Serve. Understand. Lead. Strengthen.
Each pathway emphasizes a different aspect of biblical learning and Christian service.
Serve
Certificate in Christian Ministry
A practical biblical foundation for believers who want to grow in ministry, discipleship, pastoral care, evangelism, and faithful Christian service.

Certificate in Bible / Theology

Lead

Choose for Growth, Not Status
One Certificate Is Not More Spiritual Than Another
Christian learning is not a competition. Someone who needs practical ministry preparation does not need to pursue theology merely because it sounds more academic. A person called to encourage others does not need to become a pastor in order for that calling to matter.
The most helpful pathway is the one that supports the growth and service God is inviting from you in your present season.
The goal is not to collect certificates. The goal is to become increasingly rooted in Scripture and equipped for faithful service.
A Larger Purpose
Know God’s Word. Live God’s Word. Serve God’s Kingdom.
Biblical instruction is most fruitful when knowledge becomes part of a life increasingly shaped by Jesus.
Grow in Understanding
Study Scripture carefully and develop a stronger biblical and theological foundation.
Let Truth Shape Your Life
Allow biblical learning to influence your character, decisions, relationships, prayer, and discipleship.
Use What You Learn
Put biblical understanding into practice by strengthening others, serving faithfully, and participating in God’s Kingdom.
Before the Reflection
Think About Your Present Learning Needs
The short recommendation reflection will consider several factors, not simply which certificate title sounds most interesting.
Your Goal
Are you primarily seeking Bible knowledge, practical ministry preparation, leadership development, or tools for strengthening others?
Your Experience
Consider your previous Bible study, ministry experience, and any OBI coursework you may already have completed.
Your Present Role
Think about whether you are primarily learning personally, serving, leading, teaching, mentoring, or helping strengthen a church.
Your Next Step
Focus on what would help now rather than trying to map every stage of your future biblical education.
Personal Reflection
Consider These Questions Before Receiving a Recommendation
What is the main reason I want to study the Bible more intentionally?
Am I primarily looking to understand Scripture, serve in ministry, lead others, or strengthen people and churches?
What previous biblical or ministry training have I already completed?
What kind of learning would most directly strengthen the responsibilities God has given me right now?
A Prayer for Learning
Invite God Into Your Next Step
Father, thank You for giving us Your Word and inviting us to know You more deeply.
Give me wisdom as I consider what to study. Keep me from pursuing knowledge simply for recognition or accomplishment.
Help me understand Scripture faithfully, allow Your truth to shape my life, and use what I learn to love and serve others well.
Show me the next step that fits the season, responsibilities, and opportunities You have given me.
Amen.
