Kingdom Coming Part 6 Devotionals
Day 1: Unwavering Commitment
Devotional Daniel’s story in the lion’s den is a powerful testament to unwavering commitment. Despite the decree that no one could pray to any god or human except the king, Daniel continued his practice of praying three times a day. This act of faithfulness, even in the face of potential death, demonstrates the depth of his devotion to God. Daniel’s response challenges us to examine our own commitment to our spiritual disciplines. Are we willing to stand firm in our faith, even when it is inconvenient or dangerous? Daniel’s example encourages us to prioritize our relationship with God above all else.
Bible Verse “Daniel distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities.” – Daniel 6:3
Reflection Question In what ways can you demonstrate unwavering commitment to God in your daily life?
Quote Daniel’s response was to continue his practice of praying three times a day, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to God.
Prayer Lord, help me to remain steadfast in my commitment to You, no matter the circumstances. Give me the courage to prioritize my relationship with You above all else. Amen.
Day 2: Trust in God’s Protection
Devotional When Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, it seemed like a hopeless situation. However, God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions, and Daniel emerged unscathed. This miraculous event underscores God’s ability to protect and deliver those who trust in Him. Just as God protected Daniel, He is also able to protect us in our times of trial. We are reminded that no situation is too dire for God’s intervention. Trusting in God’s protection means believing that He is always with us, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Bible Verse “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” – 1 Peter 5:8
Reflection Question How can you cultivate a deeper trust in God’s protection in your life?
Quote This miraculous event underscores God’s ability to protect and deliver those who trust in Him.
Prayer Heavenly Father, help me to trust in Your protection and deliverance. Remind me that You are always with me, even in the most challenging times. Amen.
Day 3: Bold Faith in Trials
Devotional Daniel’s unwavering faith in the face of persecution challenges us to live out our faith boldly. He did not waver in his commitment to God, even when faced with the threat of death. This boldness is a powerful example for us, especially in times of trial. We are called to stand firm in our faith, trusting that God will see us through. Bold faith means not being afraid to live out our beliefs, even when it is difficult or unpopular. It is a testament to our trust in God’s power and faithfulness.
Bible Verse “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.” – Matthew 5:11-12
Reflection Question What steps can you take to live out your faith more boldly in your daily life?
Quote Daniel’s unwavering faith challenges us to live out our faith boldly, trust in God’s protection, and maintain our spiritual disciplines, especially in times of trial.
Prayer Lord, give me the courage to live out my faith boldly, even in the face of trials. Help me to trust in Your power and faithfulness. Amen.
Day 4: Spiritual Disciplines
Devotional One of the key aspects of Daniel’s story is his commitment to spiritual disciplines, particularly prayer. Despite the decree, Daniel continued to pray three times a day. This consistency in his spiritual practice was a source of strength and connection to God. Maintaining our spiritual disciplines, such as prayer, reading Scripture, and worship, is crucial, especially in times of trial. These practices help us stay grounded in our faith and draw closer to God. They are the foundation of a strong and resilient spiritual life.
Bible Verse “Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before..” – Daniel 6:10
Reflection Question How can you strengthen your spiritual disciplines to stay connected to God?
Quote Prayer needs to be our go to response.
Prayer Father, help me to be consistent in my spiritual disciplines. May my practices of prayer, reading Scripture, and worship draw me closer to You. Amen.
Day 5: Hope in Divine Deliverance
Devotional Daniel’s deliverance from the lion’s den is a powerful reminder of God’s ability to save and deliver. This story foreshadows Jesus’ own experience of false accusations, a sealed tomb, and divine deliverance. Just as Daniel was saved, Jesus emerged from the tomb alive forevermore. This gives us hope that no matter what we face, God’s deliverance is always possible. We are reminded to live with the expectation of God’s intervention and to hold on to the hope of His promises. Our faith in God’s deliverance should inspire us to live with confidence and assurance.
Bible Verse “May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26
Reflection Question How does the hope of divine deliverance impact your perspective on the challenges you face?
Quote Jesus comes out of the tomb alive forevermore.
Prayer Lord, thank You for the hope of Your deliverance. Help me to live with confidence and assurance in Your promises. Amen.
