Kingdom Coming Part 9 Devotionals

Day 1: The Source of True Joy

Devotional As we continue this Advent journey, let’s focus on the source of true joy. Unlike happiness, which is fleeting and dependent on external circumstances, joy is deeply rooted in our relationship with God. Isaiah 12:2-6 reminds us that we can draw water from the wells of salvation with joy. This imagery speaks to the refreshing and sustaining nature of God’s salvation. When we trust in God, we find strength and defense in Him. Reflect on how your relationship with God is the well from which you draw your joy.

Bible Verse ‘Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.’ – Isaiah 12:2

Reflection Question How can you draw more deeply from the well of God’s salvation to find true joy in your life?

Quote With joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

Prayer Lord, help me to trust in You and not be afraid. Let me draw deeply from the well of Your salvation and find true joy in Your presence. Amen.

Day 2: Joy in the Good News

Devotional The birth of Jesus is the ultimate good news that brings great joy to all people. In Luke 2:8-14, the shepherds received this joyous news from the angels, who proclaimed the birth of the Savior. This joy is not just for a moment but is meant to be a lasting source of delight and hope. As we reflect on the birth of Jesus, let’s remember that this good news is for us too. It is a reminder that God loves us so much that He sent His Son to be our Savior.

Bible Verse ‘But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.’ – Luke 2:10

Reflection Question How does the good news of Jesus’ birth bring joy to your life today?

Quote I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.

Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for the good news of Jesus’ birth. Help me to find joy in this message and share it with others. Amen.

Day 3: Joy in God’s Presence

Devotional Psalm 16 speaks of the joy that comes from being in God’s presence. This joy is not just a fleeting emotion but a deep and enduring delight that fills us with eternal pleasures. When we spend time in worship and prayer, we are reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness. This connection with God helps us to experience His joy in our daily lives. Make it a priority to seek God’s presence and let His joy fill your heart.

Bible Verse ‘You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.’ – Psalm 16:11

Reflection Question What steps can you take to spend more time in God’s presence and experience His joy?

Quote You will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Prayer Lord, fill me with joy in Your presence. Help me to seek You daily and find delight in our relationship. Amen.

Day 4: Sharing Joy Through Kindness

Devotional Acts 20 reminds us of the words of Jesus, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ One way to experience and share joy is through acts of kindness and encouragement. When we focus on helping others, we reflect God’s love and bring joy into their lives. This Advent season, look for opportunities to be a blessing to others. Whether it’s a kind word, a helping hand, or a thoughtful gesture, your actions can make a difference.

Bible Verse ‘In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ – Acts 20:35

Reflection Question How can you share joy with others through acts of kindness and encouragement?

Quote Remembering the words, the Lord Jesus himself said, it’s more blessed to give than to receive.

Prayer Lord, help me to be a source of joy for others through my actions. Teach me to give generously and reflect Your love. Amen.

Day 5: Anchoring in God’s Promises

Devotional Romans 15:13 speaks of the hope and joy that come from trusting in God’s promises. When we anchor our hearts in His promises, we are filled with joy and peace by the power of the Holy Spirit. This joy becomes our strength and helps us navigate the challenges of life. Trusting in God’s timing and His plans for us is crucial. As we conclude this devotional series, let’s commit to anchoring our hearts in God’s promises and allowing His joy to overflow in our lives.

Bible Verse ‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ – Romans 15:13

Reflection Question What promises of God can you anchor your heart in to experience His joy and peace?

Quote Anchor your heart in God’s promises in order for all these things to flow in.

Prayer Heavenly Father, fill me with Your joy and peace as I trust in Your promises. Let Your Holy Spirit guide me and overflow in my life. Amen.
