Kingdom Coming Part 4 Devotionals
Day 1: Trusting in God’s Faithfulness
Devotional Today, let’s focus on the foundation of our faith: trusting in God’s faithfulness. Jeremiah 31 speaks of a New Covenant where God promises to write His law on our hearts and minds. This covenant is a testament to His unwavering faithfulness and love for us. Often, we find ourselves placing trust in our own abilities or in others, but God calls us to trust Him completely. Reflect on areas in your life where you might be relying more on yourself than on God. Remember, He is completely trustworthy and His plans for us are always good.
Bible Verse “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.’” – Jeremiah 31:3
Reflection Question In what areas of your life are you struggling to trust God fully, and how can you begin to shift that trust to Him?
Quote God is completely trustworthy.
Prayer Lord, help me to trust in Your faithfulness. Show me the areas where I am relying on my own strength and guide me to place my trust in You. Thank You for Your everlasting love and kindness. Amen.
Day 2: The Balance of Law and Love
Devotional The New Covenant is a beautiful blend of law and love. God’s relationship with us is like a marriage, combining both commitment and affection. This balance is crucial in our walk with God. We often struggle to find this balance, either leaning too much on rules or too much on leniency. The Holy Spirit helps us navigate this tension, guiding us to live in a way that honors both God’s holiness and His love. Reflect on how you can better balance law and love in your daily life, especially in your interactions with others.
Bible Verse “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” – Deuteronomy 7:9
Reflection Question How can you better balance law and love in your relationships and daily interactions?
Quote A covenant is a binding relationship that combines both law and love.
Prayer Father, teach me to balance law and love in my life. Help me to honor Your commandments while showing Your love and grace to others. Guide me through Your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Day 3: Empowered by the Holy Spirit
Devotional The New Covenant empowers us through the Holy Spirit. This empowerment is not just about following rules but about internal transformation. The Holy Spirit writes God’s law on our hearts, giving us the strength and desire to live according to His will. This transformation leads to a life filled with compassion, discernment, and peace. Reflect on how the Holy Spirit is working in your life and how you can be more open to His guidance.
Bible Verse “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.’” – Galatians 3:13
Reflection Question In what ways can you be more open to the guidance and empowerment of the Holy Spirit in your daily life?
Quote Because Holy Spirit is in us. Because of the new covenant. There’s things that should change in us, and one of them is, I like to call it, empowered compassion.
Prayer Holy Spirit, fill me with Your presence and guide me in all that I do. Help me to be open to Your transformation and to live a life that reflects Your love and grace. Amen.
Day 4: Living in the Tension
Devotional Living in the tension between law and love requires a deep relationship with God. This relationship involves constant prayer, reading the Bible, and listening to the Holy Spirit. It’s about pressing into God and seeking His guidance in every aspect of our lives. This tension is not something to be feared but embraced, as it draws us closer to God and helps us grow in our faith. Reflect on how you can deepen your relationship with God and live in this tension with grace and trust.
Bible Verse “The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said, ‘I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land I swore to give to your ancestors. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you.’” – Judges 2:1
Reflection Question How can you deepen your relationship with God and embrace the tension between law and love in your life?
Quote Living in attention requires a relationship. It requires you pressing in all the time to the Lord. It requires you praying, it requires you stopping to listen. It requires you reading the Bible.
Prayer Lord, help me to embrace the tension between law and love. Draw me closer to You through prayer, reading Your Word, and listening to Your Spirit. Guide me in all that I do. Amen.
Day 5: Empowered Compassion
Devotional As believers filled with the Holy Spirit, we are called to show empowered compassion. This compassion is not of our own making but a supernatural outpouring of God’s love through us. It means showing grace and mercy, even when it’s difficult. Reflect on how you can show empowered compassion in your daily life, especially to those who may not deserve it. Remember, we didn’t earn God’s love, yet He freely gives it to us.
Bible Verse “If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the Lord your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors.” – Deuteronomy 7:12
Reflection Question How can you show empowered compassion to those around you, especially to those who may not deserve it?
Quote As a believer in Christ filled with the Holy Spirit, you should be the most compassionate people we all should be on the planet because of the realization that we didn’t earn this and that, that he’s forgiven us and that even though I have broken the covenant at every turn, he’s been faithful.
Prayer Lord, fill me with Your empowered compassion. Help me to show Your love and grace to everyone I encounter, even when it’s difficult. Thank You for Your unending love and faithfulness. Amen.
