Kingdom Coming Part 5 Devotionals
Day 1: Planted with Purpose
Devotional In the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, we see that God plants us where He wants us to be. These three men were in Babylon, a place that was not their home, yet they were there for a purpose. God was aware of their situation and had a plan for them. Similarly, God plants us in specific places and situations for His divine reasons. We may not always understand why we are where we are, but we can trust that God is aware and has a purpose for us. Embrace where you are planted and seek to fulfill God’s purpose in that place.
Bible Verse Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. – 1 Peter 4:12
Reflection Question How can you embrace the place where God has planted you and seek to fulfill His purpose there?
Quote God plants you where he plants you and then he’s aware of what’s going on.
Prayer Lord, help me to trust that You have planted me where I am for a reason. Give me the strength and wisdom to fulfill Your purpose in this place. Amen.
Day 2: Loving Our Neighbors
Devotional Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not only faithful to God but also lived in a way that impacted those around them. Their refusal to bow to the golden image was a testament to their faith and integrity. As believers, we are called to love our neighbors and be good examples of Christ’s love. This means standing firm in our faith and showing love and kindness to those around us, even when it’s challenging. Our actions can speak volumes and draw others to Christ.
Bible Verse Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. – 1 Peter 4:12
Reflection Question In what ways can you show love and kindness to your neighbors, even when it’s difficult?
Quote Help us, God, to be good neighbors, to love our neighbors well.
Prayer God, help me to be a good neighbor and to love those around me well. Give me the courage to stand firm in my faith and to be a light to others. Amen.
Day 3: Unconditional Trust
Devotional The faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego was not dependent on their circumstances. They trusted God unconditionally, even when faced with the threat of death. True faith means trusting God for who He is, not just for what He can do for us. It means believing that He is good and sovereign, even when things don’t go as we hope. This kind of faith helps us to stand firm in the face of trials and challenges, knowing that God is with us and has a plan for our lives.
Bible Verse Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. – 1 Peter 4:12
Reflection Question Do you trust God unconditionally, even when things don’t go as you hope? How can you grow in this kind of faith?
Quote True faith trusts God without conditions.
Prayer Lord, help me to trust You unconditionally. Strengthen my faith and help me to believe in Your goodness and sovereignty, no matter what. Amen.
Day 4: Standing Firm Against Pressure
Devotional Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced immense pressure to conform to the culture around them, yet they stood firm in their faith. As believers, we too face pressure to conform to the world. However, we are called to stand firm and not compromise our beliefs. This requires courage and a deep commitment to God. Remember that God is with us, and He will give us the strength to stand firm, just as He did for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
Bible Verse Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. – 1 Peter 4:12
Reflection Question In what areas of your life do you feel pressure to conform to the world? How can you stand firm in your faith in those areas?
Quote There’s this pressure to conform.
Prayer God, give me the courage to stand firm in my faith and not to conform to the pressures of the world. Help me to be a light in the darkness. Amen.
Day 5: God is With Us
Devotiona lIn the fiery furnace, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not alone. A fourth figure, believed to be a pre-incarnate Jesus Christ, was with them. This powerful image reminds us that we are never alone in our trials. Jesus is with us, guiding and protecting us through every challenge we face. He took all our mess and paid for it on the cross. No matter what we go through, we can have confidence that Jesus is with us, and He will never leave us.
Bible Verse Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. – 1 Peter 4:12
Reflection Question How does knowing that Jesus is with you in your trials change the way you face challenges?
Quote When you’re going through a fiery ordeal, you’re not alone.
Prayer Jesus, thank You for being with me in every trial. Help me to trust in Your presence and to find comfort in knowing that You are always with me. Amen.
