Kingdom Wisdom Part 5 Devotionals
Day 1: The Father Gives Good Gifts
Devotional
Kingdom wisdom begins with the goodness of the Father. In Matthew 7:9–12, Jesus reminds us that God is not distant, reluctant, or careless toward His children. He invites us to ask, seek, and knock because our Father knows what we need and gives good gifts.
The Golden Rule does not begin with trying harder to be nice. It flows from trusting that God is good. When we know we are cared for by a generous Father, we are freed from living as though everything depends on us. We can receive His love and allow it to shape the way we respond to the people around us.

“How much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” — Matthew 7:11

Where do you need to trust the Father’s goodness today?

Because the Father is good, generous, and trustworthy, we can confidently come to Him with our needs.
Prayer
Father, help me trust that You are good. Teach me to bring my needs to You instead of carrying them alone. Fill me with confidence in Your care and generosity today. Amen.
Day 2: Love Takes the Initiative
Devotional
Jesus says, “Do to others what you would have them do to you.” This is more than avoiding harm. Kingdom love actively looks for ways to do good.
It is possible to make it through a day without insulting anyone, losing your temper, or causing an obvious problem—and still miss opportunities to love. Jesus calls us beyond merely asking, “How can I avoid making things worse?” He invites us to ask, “How can I make things better?”
Love may look like helping someone carry a burden, sending an encouraging message, offering practical help, or making room for someone who feels overlooked. The person in front of you may need the goodness of God expressed through a simple act of care.

What is one practical way you can make someone’s day better today?

Jesus, give me eyes to see the needs around me. Move me beyond passive kindness and help me take initiative in love. Show me one person I can serve today. Amen.
Day 3: Change Places
Devotional
The Golden Rule calls us to step outside of ourselves long enough to see another person. Before we speak, criticize, assume motives, repeat a story, or respond to someone’s failure, Jesus asks us to consider how we would hope to be treated in that same situation.
This kind of humility does not deny truth or ignore wisdom. It changes the posture of our hearts. Rather than beginning with, “What do I want?” or, “How has this affected me?” kingdom wisdom asks what love would look like from the other person’s place.
Our words can wound, but they can also bless. When we pause and change perspectives, we become better able to speak truth gently, listen carefully, and respond with grace.

Father, slow me down before I react. Help me listen well, assume the best where I can, and speak in ways that bring grace and truth. Teach me to see people as You see them. Amen.
Day 4: The Heart of the Story Is Love
Devotional
Jesus says that treating others according to the Golden Rule “sums up the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 7:12). This does not make Scripture shallow or unimportant. Instead, it reveals the heart of the story God has been telling: He is forming a people who love Him and love others.
Kingdom life is not primarily about appearing spiritual or winning arguments. It becomes visible in everyday relationships: how we speak, forgive, listen, serve, give, and respond when we are hurt. Love for God is never meant to remain private; it takes shape in the way we treat the person standing in front of us.

God, form Your love more deeply in me. Let my faith be visible in my words, my forgiveness, my service, and my response to the people You place before me. Amen.
Day 5: Give What You Have Received
Devotional
We do not create kingdom life through our own strength. We receive first, and then we give. God loves us, and we learn to love. God forgives us, and we learn to forgive. God shows mercy, and we learn to show mercy. God gives generously, and we learn to give.
This creates two very different ways of moving through the world. One asks, “What can I get?” The other asks, “What can I give?” One sees people mainly in terms of how they affect personal comfort, plans, or preferences. The other receives life from the Father and asks how that life can become a blessing to someone else.
Do not try to change the whole world this week. Pause before an important interaction. Ask, “If I were in their place, how would I hope to be treated?” Then pray, “Father, help me treat them that way.” Look for the person God puts in front of you, and do the next right thing.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32

What have you received from God—grace, patience, forgiveness, mercy, generosity—that He may be inviting you to extend today?

Father, thank You for Your love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Let what I have received from You overflow into the lives of others. Help me do the next right thing in love today. Amen.
